Host a Donation Drive and Make a Meaningful Impact

Hosting a donation drive is a powerful way to support foster, kinship, and adoptive families across North Carolina - and it’s often just as meaningful for those giving as it is for those receiving.

Community members, families, schools, faith groups, businesses, and friend groups can all play a role by collecting much-needed items for FFA-NC’s Foster Closet or by purchasing items that align with your passions or interests- Love dogs? Collect pet essentials for foster families. From clothing and personal care items to everyday essentials, donation drives help ensure families have access to what they need, when they need it most.

How to Host a Donation Drive

Getting started is simple:

  • Choose a focus: Select items to collect based on current needs - such as clothing, undergarments, hygiene items, pet supplies or wish list essentials.

  • Pick a format: Host a small gathering, workplace drive, school initiative, or community event.

  • Spread the word: Invite friends, coworkers, or community members to participate and share why the cause matters to you.

  • Add a personal touch: Notes of encouragement, handmade cards, or messages of support are always welcome and deeply appreciated.

  • Coordinate delivery: We’ll help you arrange drop-off or delivery so donations reach families quickly.

One recent drive was hosted by a young girl who brought her friends together for an underwear and bra collection to support our Western NC Foster Closet. The group turned it into a joyful mother-daughter tea, collecting donations and writing more than 30 notes of encouragement. As her mom shared, “It might have blessed us more than anyone else.”

That spirit - connection, compassion, and community - is what donation drives are all about.

If you’re interested in hosting a drive or would like help getting started, we’d love to support you every step of the way. Together, we can turn generosity into tangible support for families who need it most.
